Job Description

The Wisconsin Center for Education Research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is home to the WIDA Consortium (wida.us), a leader in the development of products and services intended to support the needs of English language learners (ELLs) and their educators, including the development of large-scale assessments. This year, WIDA's flagship assessment, ACCESS for ELLs, will be administered to over 1.5 million students in 37 states. This position will report to the Director of Information Technology within WIDA's Administration/Operations department. The successful candidate must have a background of solid experience with Website Content Management, a fundamental understanding of marketing concepts, and additionally possess a deep understanding of the technical processes, tools, and techniques to communicate using the web.

Degree and area of specialization:

*Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Marketing Communications or related field.

 Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

 Required

* 2+ years of experience managing web content and content change process, adhering to Brand Visual Identity, customer messaging, and using web technologies on numerous complex web properties from the perspectives of multiple internal stakeholders and multiple external audiences.

* Demonstrated proficiency managing web content and change using a top 5 CMS.

* History of using a collaborative approach to problem solving by leveraging strong customer relations and excellent interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical partners.

* Proven ability to assign, coordinate, and monitor completion of tasks with various resource groups to deliver web-based solutions.

*Experience decomposing complex processes into manageable components, devising alternative approaches, and translating recommendations into actionable work plans and solutions.

Preferred

* 3-5 years of experience managing multiple web properties, for multiple stakeholders and audiences in the preK-12 or higher education sector.

* Managed and/or been significantly involved in the transition of complex web properties, specifically a site redesign and the migration to CMS.

* Understanding of web-based UX concepts and practices such as Responsive design, User personas, customer journeys, focus groups, and market research.

* Proven ability to analyze and incorporate emerging web technology offerings by partnering with web developers and content providers.

* Understanding of Web Application Development process, tools, techniques, and touch points to web content and change.

* Understanding and application of SEO.

* Proficiency with Google Analytics or similar tools.

* Understanding of standard content development tools and technologies such as Adobe CC, and specific EdTech solutions such as LMS concepts and Course Authoring (e.g. Articulate).

* Proficiency with HTML5 and an understanding of CSS, JavaScript and their uses.

 Principal Duties:

 Content Management

* Collaborate with content creators from WIDA departments to effectively and efficiently manage content changes on the WIDA websites.

* Prioritize change requests to the website within the context of deadlines, requirements, and customer needs.

* Supervise one academic staff position, the Web Content Editor.

* Assign, manage, and prioritize work with marketers, web designers, content creators, and copy editors to create and integrate new web solutions.

* Assign, manage, and prioritize work with digital designers to produce artwork and assets to appear on web pages.

* Design and organize site structure to ensure ease of access to information.

* Manage change with both CMS/WCM systems and custom site solutions.

* Develop and maintain site asset catalog with respect to content ownership, revision management, security, and access control schemes.

 User Engagement

* Design and format web pages and sites to have a consistent look and feel.

* Edit, develop, and organize site content consistent with WIDA branding guidelines.

* Apply different approaches to managing and executing company web presence such as social and online communities, mobile, multi-channel, conversational engagement, and customer experience.

* Apply current UI web design patterns (e.g. responsive design) to execute a positive user experience.

 Web Technology

* Coordinate with other WIDA IT Solutions Analysts (CRM & LMS) to ensure web solutions are integrated.

* Assign, manage, and prioritize work with web developers within WCER and WIDA to create and integrate new application features and functionality.

* Manage SEO, web analytics, search analytics, social media, and email marketing.

* Manage site design, site content, and site navigation within the confines of existing site technologies.

* Propose new web technology solutions to solve stakeholder challenges.
